The "Aviation Nation" Air show at Nellis AFB usually attracts a huge crowd, 2007 was no different, Being the capstone event for the United States Air Force 60th anniversary celebrations. With various high performance aerobatic displays, a mix of old and new military aircraft and the last performance of the year for the Thunderbirds the flying display was filled to the notch. Unfortunately the crash of an Air National Guard F-15 just 2 days before the show led to the grounding of the entire Eagle fleet, and technical problem with the Special Forces CV-22 Osprey lead to their display being cancelled as well.
The Highlight of the show was without a doubt the F-22A Raptor display, the maneuvers demonstrated by this next generation combat aircraft where truly amazing. It was however closely being followed by The F-117A Nighthawk. Only added to the flying display the week before the show, and flying near sunset, it truly showed us a worthy salute to this mighty stealth aircraft.
