The Annual NATO Tiger Meet, called Ocean Tiger for the occasion; due to the fact that it was being organised and hosted by a naval squadron.
Flotille 11 had the opportunity to organise their first ever, and most likely their last Tiger Meet. The fact is that 11F is a carrier based unit, and their carrier the Charles de Gaulle (R91), the only active carrier in the French Navy at this time, will be out of service for maintenance and refuelling for more than a year.
The 11F land base, Landivisiau was therefore host to almost 500 pilots and technicians from 14 flying squadrons. With vast training areas over the Atlantic Ocean, the 2008 Tiger Meet was a perfect place to get familiar with maritime tasks, something that usually doesn’t get attention in this type of exercise. With only a short period (les than 10 months) to plan an arrange this exercise, the entire 11F was awarded with the Tiger Spirit award, for a job well don.
